+ “His firm and well-studied political position does not prevent him from really listening to any and all voices, in fact, he has been a most effective facilitator of public discussions and an extremely strong proponent of student rights, regardless of opinion being forwarded. I have known such strengths to become strident and counterproductive in the hands of some ‘believers,’ but Matt has a way – perhaps it is the ineffable quality we call integrity – of advocating without alienating.” ~ Susanne Skubal, Ph.D.

+ Political Beliefs:

- The two-party system is a broken system. It leads to binary thinking and an “us vs. them” mentality. There are not only two sides to an issue when you’re talking about governments that represent hundreds, thousands, and millions of people.

- Money is not speech.

- Corporations should not be considered legal persons.

- All workers have an inherent and unalienable right to organize.

- The public trust (land, air, water) must be maintained at a pristine a level as possible. It should not be sacrificed for corporate profit.

- The “Gandhi Doctrine” (as I like to call it) the seven sins that will destroy us (a good synopsis by clicking here):

  • Wealth without work
  • Pleasure without conscience
  • Knowledge without character
  • Commerce without morality
  • Science without humanity
  • Religion without sacrifice
  • Politics without principle
